  19. This is my first shot at announcing a useful utiliy I have developed
  20. for my own use and have been using for quite some time (I am NOT a S/W
  21. developer by proffecion). I was motivated to announce it by other
  22. interested users. Just wanted to know how many people would be
  23. interested (since distributing it would take still more of my
  24. _un-available_ time...bearing in mind user support, etc.). 
  25. Heck, I even haven't set a price for it. I guess my post _did sound_
  26. too much of an AD (sorry about that...). All I actually wanted was to
  27. announce it's availability (kind of "set and forget") in a concise way
  28. so that any interested party could contact me for further info (and
  29. from the responses I got there sure is interest).

  38. Well, actually I BELIEVE (and that _IS_ bias, my own opinion) THE
  39. TYIN2000 first of all, is a very good (but insufficiently marketted
  40. and _hyped_)  product.  My utility is another story. In fact, many
  41. users can benefit from using the TYIN _WITHOUT_ my utils.²
  42. Over the years, I have been searching for a inexpensive voice mail PC
  43. based system. I have many times evaluated other voice products (both
  44. Rockwell as well as Cirrus Logic based chipsets, coupled with various
  45. Voicemail S/W such as Supervoice and Faxworks) hoping to get improved
  46. features. But after a few PC crashes and loosing important messages I
  47. always returned to my faithfull old TYIN2000 (and please, Rockell,
  48. Cirrus, Supervoice, Faxworks users: These are only MY opinions. I have
  49. a right to have opinions. Others might have other opinions). Nothing
  50. compared with it's robustness and voice quality. So I simply solved my
  51. problems (insufficiently featured bundled Voice S/W) by developing the
  52. features I needed. Now, I've been suggested to offer them on the net
  53. for the benefit of other users.
  54. My responses to the posts were really ment to save other users the
  55. aggrevation of searching for a GOOD and innexpensive voice mail system
  56. (just take a look at all those postings about buggy voice s/w around
  57. the net, including this newsgroup).

  72. So you see, I had only good intentions...
  73. The TYIN's main problems were insufficient marketting by NSC and
  74. insufficient 3rd party agreements with S/W developers. Thus, no
  75. advanced applications were released for this product (although I've
  76. heard a shareware utility (Voiceguide) now supports it too. I haven't
  77. tested this though myself.
  78. If this is going to cause me too much flaming I will be happy to stop
  79. any further activity (although the positive responses I got DO HELP my
  80. motivation). From experience, I know that distributing a product
  81. always requires support. And I think it's fair to get some
  82. compensation for your time (actually, I'm treating this attempt as an
  83. interesting internet marketting experiment. I've never done it
  84. before). I myself have found many times interesting products on the
  85. net which I was happy to pay for (and which without the net I never
  86. would have heard of).
