- Hi David,
-
- I should have taken into account I might be flamed...Sorry if this
- offended anyone.
- This is my first shot at announcing a useful utiliy I have developed
- for my own use and have been using for quite some time (I am NOT a S/W
- developer by proffecion). I was motivated to announce it by other
- interested users. Just wanted to know how many people would be
- interested (since distributing it would take still more of my
- _un-available_ time...bearing in mind user support, etc.).
- Heck, I even haven't set a price for it. I guess my post _did sound_
- too much of an AD (sorry about that...). All I actually wanted was to
- announce it's availability (kind of "set and forget") in a concise way
- so that any interested party could contact me for further info (and
- from the responses I got there sure is interest).
- So, I would like to respond to your comments:
-
- >This is mainly for Amnon,

- Well, actually I BELIEVE (and that _IS_ bias, my own opinion) THE
- TYIN2000 first of all, is a very good (but insufficiently marketted
- and _hyped_) product. My utility is another story. In fact, many
- users can benefit from using the TYIN _WITHOUT_ my utils.²
- Over the years, I have been searching for a inexpensive voice mail PC
- based system. I have many times evaluated other voice products (both
- Rockwell as well as Cirrus Logic based chipsets, coupled with various
- Voicemail S/W such as Supervoice and Faxworks) hoping to get improved
- features. But after a few PC crashes and loosing important messages I
- always returned to my faithfull old TYIN2000 (and please, Rockell,
- Cirrus, Supervoice, Faxworks users: These are only MY opinions. I have
- a right to have opinions. Others might have other opinions). Nothing
- compared with it's robustness and voice quality. So I simply solved my
- problems (insufficiently featured bundled Voice S/W) by developing the
- features I needed. Now, I've been suggested to offer them on the net
- for the benefit of other users.
- My responses to the posts were really ment to save other users the
- aggrevation of searching for a GOOD and innexpensive voice mail system
- (just take a look at all those postings about buggy voice s/w around
- the net, including this newsgroup).
- Just to quote a few responses I got:
-
- By a developer:
-
- "YES, THE TYIN IS STILL THE BEST BOARD EVER MADE.
- ABOUT 50,000 WERE SOLD, MOST IN HONG KONG, MEXICO, CANADA, DENMARK.
- THERE ARE ABOUT 2000 REGISTERED USERS IN THE USA "
-
- by a user:
-
- "I would be interested in a description of your shareware & if it
- would work on the TyIn 4000 pro. The quality of these modems in fax &
- voice is not equaled by anyother product available that I know of."
-
- So you see, I had only good intentions...
- The TYIN's main problems were insufficient marketting by NSC and
- insufficient 3rd party agreements with S/W developers. Thus, no
- advanced applications were released for this product (although I've
- heard a shareware utility (Voiceguide) now supports it too. I haven't
- tested this though myself.
- If this is going to cause me too much flaming I will be happy to stop
- any further activity (although the positive responses I got DO HELP my
- motivation). From experience, I know that distributing a product
- always requires support. And I think it's fair to get some
- compensation for your time (actually, I'm treating this attempt as an
- interesting internet marketting experiment. I've never done it
- before). I myself have found many times interesting products on the
- net which I was happy to pay for (and which without the net I never
- would have heard of).
-
- >I don't know, but I'm sure people would rather hear from unbiased
- >opinions of products which they themselves are happy with.
- >David Zadikoff
-
- O.K. TYIN users, speak up!
-
- That's all, folks. Sorry for the lengthy response. This is the first
- time I've been flamed...
- All the best David. It is quite obvious you care about this forum. I
- do too. All your feedback was positevely taken.
